Srinagar, Oct 23: The Meteorological Department, Kashmir on Wednesday forecasted possibility of very light rain and snowfall over higher reaches of north Kashmir including higher reaches of Sonamarg till Oct 24 morning, officials said.
Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that a strong Western disturbance is affecting Jammu and Kashmir under its influence widespread rain and snow are expected during the next two days.
“There is possibility of very light rain, snow over higher reaches of north Kashmir & higher reaches of Sonamarg towards late night of 23rd & early morning of 24th Oct,” he said.
Dr Mukhtar said that from 25-27th Oct, weather will remain mainly generally. From 28-29th Oct, weather will remain cloudy with possibility of very light rain, snow over higher reaches of north & Central Kashmir.
“The farmers are advised to continue harvesting, safe storage of harvested crops and other farm operations,” he said.
A traffic police spokesman said that from on Wednesday, there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 04 HMVs, movement of 02 nomadic flocks, single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather.
“Subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban for road condition,” he said.
The spokesman said that vehicular movement (only LMVs) on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road shall be allowed from both sides viz from Anantnag towards Kishtwar and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Daksum and Chingam (Chatroo) between 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing, he said.
“Traffic movement shall be allowed on regulated manner on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar at 0600 hrs. to 1130 hrs. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1330 hrs to 1900 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” the spokesman said.
On Mughal road shall be allowed from both sides viz. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) at 0600 hrs. upto 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut of timing.
