Srinagar, June 03: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to inaugurate the Chenab Bridge and launch the Vande Bharat train service connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari on June 6, a preparatory meeting of senior administrative and police officials was chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Nalin Prabhat, DGP J&K; Anand Jain, ADGP Armed; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; Vivek Gupta, IGP Railways; M. Suleman Choudhary, IGP Traffic; Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Udhampur; along with other senior officials from civil and police administration.
The Prime Minister will dedicate the Chenab Bridge—the world’s highest railway bridge—to the nation. This engineering marvel, standing at 359 meters, is the highest railway arch bridge globally and a symbol of a resurgent India on the path to becoming a developed country by 2047.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed various aspects of the preparations and appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to participate in large numbers to make the inauguration a historic and memorable event.
The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link is a landmark 272-kilometer project connecting the Kashmir Valley with the southern tip of India at Kanyakumari, ensuring seamless, year-round connectivity. The dedication of the Chenab Bridge by the Prime Minister marks a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure development and reflects the nation’s progress toward achieving developed country status by 2047.
