Jammu, Nov 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the new portal of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), acknowledging the Information Department’s efforts to disseminate crucial information regarding the administration’s policies, programs, and initiatives to the media.
Commending the initiative, the Lt Governor expressed his appreciation for the Information Department’s dedication to enhancing communication. He highlighted that the new portal introduces several features catering to various modes of communication, including press releases, fact sheets, photographs, and infographics. These enhancements are expected to streamline the existing mechanism and significantly reduce the time taken for the accurate and timely dissemination of information.
During the event, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha bid farewell to the outgoing Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, lauding his sincerity, dedication, and commitment in discharging responsibilities without bias. “I wish him a long, happy, and healthy life ahead,” remarked the Lt Governor.
Expressing gratitude, the Lt Governor acknowledged the support and cooperation of the Haryana Government in developing the new portal.
Prerna Puri, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Information Department, elucidated the key features of the portal. She highlighted the introduction of the “Subscribe to Press Release” feature, enabling the general public to subscribe and receive press releases on their mobile phones. Additionally, the integration of the Rebuttal Mechanism is expected to counter fake or false news in real-time.
The event was attended by Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Administrative Secretaries, and senior officials of Civil and Police Administration. Shri V. Umashankar, Principal Secretary, Citizen Resources Information Department, Government of Haryana, also participated via video conference.
