Srinagar, July 19: Panic have gripped the residents of Badamwari and its adjoining areas in Srinagar as a leopard was sighted in the locality. The authorities have issued a warning to the public, urging them to remain vigilant and take precautions while venturing outside their homes due to the presence of the wild animal.
In response to the reported sighting, the wildlife department officials have sprung into action, mobilizing their teams to capture the leopard. An official for the wildlife department mentioned that they have deployed personnel and traps in strategic locations to ensure the swift capture of the animal.
The officials have assured the public that every possible effort is being made to catch the leopard at the earliest. A  team of officials is actively searching the identified areas where the animal has been observed, aiming to locate and trap it without causing harm.
In light of the situation, the wildlife department officials have appealed to the residents to promptly report any sightings of wild animals in their localities. This proactive approach enables the authorities to respond swiftly and effectively, ensuring the safety of both the public and the animals.
It is to note here that this is not the first time wild animals have been spotted within the city limits. In recent times, such occurrences have become more frequent, with these animals finding refuge in the abandoned sheds and structures scattered throughout the city. However, the wildlife department officials assert that they are actively working to address this issue and prevent any potential risks to the residents.
The local community is advised to exercise caution, especially during late hours or when traversing areas close to the wilderness. Additionally, it is crucial to avoid provoking or approaching the wild animals and to follow the instructions provided by the authorities diligently.
