A male leopard was killed after an unknown vehicle hit the wild animal while crossing a road in the Achabal area of the Anantnag district.
An official said, the leopard was hit by an allegedly speedy vehicle at around 7:30 PM on Thursday which killed the animal on spot at Mohripora Akingam village of Achabal.
An official of the wildlife department told Rising Kashmir that the leopard died on the spot and the body of the animal was taken from the site of the accident.
“An autopsy of the leopard and other further formalities will be conducted as per the norms of the wildlife act,” he said.
