Srinagar, May 08: The Law Foundation celebrated a significant milestone with the successful culmination of its Second Convocation held in Srinagar, Kashmir.
The event took place at SKICC, Srinagar, on the 20th of April, 2024, and was attended by esteemed dignitaries, alumni, students, families, and well-wishers who came together to celebrate the achievements and contributions of the LAW Foundation to the youth of Kashmir.
The event began with opening remarks by the Founder Trustee, Talha Salaria, setting the tone for a morning filled with inspiration and reflection. This was followed by an address from the chief guest, Retd Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, whose words resonated deeply with the audience. The chief guest emphasized the importance of helping each other and taking small initiatives.
He further added that we need laws in the land so that people can be free. He also quoted a famous quote from Dr B.R Ambedkar, “If something fails, it will not be because of this constitution but it will be because we will fail the constitution”. He encouraged the students by saying that there is no dearth of talent in the state, but the young lawyers/law students lack professional guidance and experience. He ended his speech by making a call to students to work towards Justice.
During the convocation program, tributes were paid during the alumni remembrance segment, honoring the success stories of alumni Urba Farash, and Syed Umi Fatma who secured coveted jobs in top-notch companies and law firms. Cohort 2, which was being honored, celebrated it with a song, testimonials, and memories. Students also had the opportunity to share their reflections, providing insights into their journey and aspirations within the legal profession.
Family members were invited to share their feedback, underscoring the crucial role of familial support in nurturing aspiring legal minds. Certificates were then presented to the students with special awards for the top three students from cohort 2 namely Osheeba Bashir, Syed Yussra and Bashash Mahmood.
The evening culminated in a soul-stirring musical performance by Yawar Abdal – Echoes of Kashmir, filling the venue with melodies that captured the essence of Kashmiri culture.
The LAW Foundation enables a practical approach to law, embedded in the theory of law. It marries education with skill development to take the students to the next level, including providing internship opportunities to the students.
The Second Convocation of the Law Foundation in Srinagar, Kashmir, served as a testament to the organization’s commitment to excellence in legal education and its enduring impact on the community. As the Foundation looks towards the future, it remains steadfast in its mission to empower the next generation of legal professionals.
