Baramulla, Jan 13: In connection with Road Safety Week being observed from January 11 to 17, South Asia Center for Peace and Peoples Empowerment (SACPPE) in collaboration with ARTO Baramulla felicitated dozens of drivers on Srinagar-Baramullla national highway for obeying traffic rules.
The law-abiding drivers were given certificates of appreciation by Majid Ahmad Shah, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), Suhail Qadri MVI Headquarters and Umer Bhat, Vice President SACPPE. Besides the Srinagar-Baramulla highway, the felicitation ceremony was also held on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg road.
Speaking on the occasion, Umar Bhat said the aim to hold such events was to create awareness among the general public and transporters to improve road safety measures and give an opportunity to all stakeholders to contribute to the burning issue in society.
“Observing Road Safety Week provides an opportunity to all stakeholders including administration, transporters, commuters, pedestrians and the public in general to contribute to reducing road accidents by strictly adhering to traffic safety measures to save precious human lives,” he said.
