Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam on Monday visited the village Duksar Dalwa to assess the damage caused to residential houses. He also interacted with the affected families .

The DC was accompanied by Sub-divisional Magistrate Gool, Tanveer-ul-Majid; Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Abhishek Gupta; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Sudhir Sharma and other concerned officers and local representatives.

Interacting with the families whose houses were damaged due to sinking of land, the DC assured them every possible help from the district administration.

He directed the SDM Gool to process relief cases of damaged houses on war footing under SDRF to provide assistance to victims in the shortest possible time.

The DC informed that 16 affected families have been shifted to safer places besides providing tents, blankets and utensils to them.

As conveyed by SDM Gool, experts from the Geological Survey of India are scheduled to arrive tomorrow at Duksar to ascertain the reasons behind the sinking of land.

The DC also inspected the Dharam- Salballa road to use it as a temporary alternate route for regulating essential services and supplies to Sub-division headquarter Gool.

The Deputy Commissioner directed Executive Engineer PWD to make Dharam- Salballa road traffic worthy to regulate traffic between Ramban and Gool through this road.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti to submit the action plan for restoration of water supply in the areas. He also passed the directions to concern officers for the restoration of power supply in affected areas. Similar directions were given to EE STD to ensure that the 33 KV network is re-laid quickly so that power supply to Gool is restored.

Meanwhile, OC 52 RCC (GREF) has also been advised to flag the issue at appropriate level so that the 500 metre stretch damaged at Duksar is immediately restored and seamless traffic resumed on Ramban-Gool Road.
