The Ladakh Administration on Monday ordered closure of highest motorable passes of Khardungla and Changla after 4 pm and issued an advisory of frequent avalanches in the regions, officials said.
In an advisory, Disaster Management Authority, Leh said, “Light snow and avalanches occurs frequently at Khardongla and Changla passes during these days. In view of this, it is hereby ordered that both Khardongla and Changla shall be closed after 04:00 PM for vehicular traffic from both sides till further order.”
The commuters are hereby advised to undertake their journey during the prescribed timings and only after confirming the status of the road from Police Control Room, Leh and Traffic Police Ladakh.
“In case of any emergency, public is advised to contact control rooms for help on the following numbers:DC Office Control Room, Leh (01982-257416, 01982-255530), Police Control Room Leh (01982-258880) and Traffic Control Unit, Leh (8082863919)”, it reads.
