Jammu, Dec 11: The Labour Department, Jammu & Kashmir Wednesday concluded a two-day Capacity-Building Programme on Labour Reforms at the Convention Centre, Jammu.
An official statement said that the event focussed on to enhance officials’ understanding of Labour Laws, particularly the new Labour Codes.
“The programme was inaugurated by Secretary Labour and Employment Government of J&K, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, on Monday. Labour Commissioner J&K, Charandeep Singh commended the active participation of officials and emphasised the department’s commitment to enhancing service delivery for workers. He encouraged officials to adopt innovative approaches to ensure compliance and transparency in implementing labour laws,” the statement said.
It said that the programme featured sessions led by distinguished experts. Dr. Onkar Sharma, former Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) and Advisor to the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE), Government of India, provided comprehensive insights into the Code on Wages, Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions Code and the Social Security Code.
“Dr. Sanjay Upadhyaya, Senior Fellow at the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, delivered sessions on Human Rights and Constitutional Perspectives on Labour and the Industrial Relations Code and comparative analysis of the centre and state rules under code on wages 2019,” the statement said. “The interactive sessions facilitated discussions on the practical application of labour laws and reforms while sharing best practices for their effective implementation. This event witnessed the presence of DLC Jammu Vinakshi Koul and active participation of Assistant Labour Commissioners, Chief Accounts officer JKEPFO, Administrative Medical Officer, IMO’s JKESIS, Labour Officers, Labour Inspectors and other officials from the Labour Department from Jammu division.”
