Srinagar, Feb 13: Reinforcing its commitment to empower and ensure economic security of our energetic rural youth, through series of Skill Development Trainings; Krishi Vigyan Kendra Srinagar launched twin certificate courses on Agripreneurship in High Value Mushroom Farming and Vermicomposting to encourage and inspire youth towards Entrepreneurship to establish their own commercial enterprises not only to sustain their livelihood but serve as engines of employment generation for unemployed youth of the society.
A statement issued here stated that the Skill Development Certificate courses is being organised by KVK Srinagar in collaboration with 41Bn BSF Humhama and technical assistance cum expertise from Division of Plant Pathology, Division of Vegetable science FoH SKUAST-K Shalimar and IMDC (DoA & FW) Lal Mandi.
The Inaugural session was presided by 2IC, Shri Manoj Sundriyal and Head KVK Srinagar, Prof. S A Simnani as the Guest of honour in presence of team of BSF officers, scientists/ Technical staff of the Kendra, Sarpanches of the participating villages, trainees and the media persons.
The opening session was moderated by Dy.CO. Pawan K. Sharma and the courses comprising theory, hands on training cum demonstrations and exposure visits, shall be conducted by Dr. Gazanfer, Dr Shabir-ur-Rehman, Dr Rayees, Dr. Aasima, and Dr Ishtiyaq Mir, the coordinators of the programme.
On the occasion, Prof. Simnani exhorted upon the participating trainees to equip themselves with modern day Mushroom and Vermicompost production techniques and register with Flagship HADP of JKUT Govt. to establish their sustainable business enterprises after the successful completion of the course. Dr. Shabir-ur-Rehman deliberated upon the efforts of the SKUAST-K in initiation of Vermicompost/Mushroom cultivation and inspired the trainees with the success stories of pioneering mushroom growers across the district besides hi-tech mushroom cultivation as a source for doubling farmers income.
