Srinagar, Feb 27: Official figures from the Health Department have revealed that Kupwara and Srinagar are the districts with the lowest performance in AB-PMJAY and AB-PMJAY SEHAT saturation, while Pulwama has emerged as the best-performing district.
According to official figures from the health department, Kupwara district has a total of 675,435 beneficiaries as per NFSA, out of which only 463,422, accounting for 68 percent, are registered beneficiaries.
Similarly, Srinagar is the second-lowest performing district in the saturation of the two schemes, with 816,084 beneficiaries, out of which only 617,768 (75 percent) have registered for the schemes, according to official figures.
The figures indicate that Baramulla district has a total of 892,416 beneficiaries, out of which 713,034 (79 percent) are registered beneficiaries, according to the official data.
Bandipora district has 327,031 beneficiaries, of which 262,407 have registered for the government-funded health schemes as of February 25th.
Anantnag has a total of 790,657 eligible beneficiaries, of which 82 percent are registered. Similarly, Ganderbal has 246,987 eligible beneficiaries, of which 83 percent are registered.
Similarly, according to government figures, Budgam has 586,219 eligible beneficiaries, out of which 84 percent are registered. Kulgam has 377,503 beneficiaries, of which 85 percent are registered.
The data indicates that Shopian has 248,682 beneficiaries, of which 88 percent are registered. It also states that Pulwama has 483,395 beneficiaries, out of which 90 percent have registered for schemes.
Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara, Dr. Mohd Ramzan, stated that they are actively working on achieving saturation, and many programs will be conducted to achieve saturation by the end of March.
“We will be working for the saturation of the AB-PMJAY and AB-PMJAY SEHAT. We have already given benefits to more than 50,000 patients under the two schemes. We will achieve 95 percent if 100 percent is not possible,” he said.
A senior official of the health department said that the department in a review meeting has taken serious note of the low performance by some districts in saturation. The government has taken note of substantial efforts from some districts to achieve 100% saturation.
The health department has instructed Chief Medical Officers to organize registration camps for Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries across Kashmir in order to achieve 100 percent saturation by March 15th, 2024.
Officials from the health department stated that prior instructions had been issued regarding the lack of substantial effort from some districts to achieve 100% saturation. However, despite these directives, some districts did not make significant progress in this regard.
The department has also warned the officers that failure to achieve full saturation will result in strict action under relevant regulations. This will be reflected in the officers’ performance evaluations, emphasizing the importance of diligent efforts in achieving the set targets.
