In an exclusive interview with Arif Rashid, Correspondent, Rising Kashmir, Dr.MajidZaman Baba, the Controller of Examinations at the University of Kashmir, shed light on the implementation of the Single Window Clearance System and its benefits for students. This system, initiated at the examinations wing, aims to streamline student services and grievance resolution. DrBaba elaborated on the system’s features, its significance in reducing bureaucratic hassles for students, and future plans to enhance student convenience. Here are the insights from our conversation.

Q: What are single window clearance systems, and when were they launched at the University of Kashmir?

A: The single clearance window system is a facility at Kashmir University, launched at the examinations wing. It enables students to resolve their issues in a single room without having to visit multiple departments.

Q: What kinds of facilities are available in the single window clearance systems?

A: The single window clearance system consolidates services like transcripts, degree certificates, exam results, registration, document verification, and more into one room. It streamlines student grievances and problem resolution processes.

Q: For candidates applying for duplicate certificates, like mark sheets, what is the process under the single clearance window system?

A: Duplicate certificate requests are also accommodated within the system. Candidates complete necessary formalities, after which they receive duplicate certificates promptly. Since 2013, degree certificates are automatically sent to respective colleges and departments.

Q: How many colleges are affiliated with the University of Kashmir?

A: The University of Kashmir affiliates with over 200 colleges in the Kashmir valley, including government and private institutions offering various courses such as engineering, nursing, law, and more.

Q: What courses are available for students after the NEP Batch has been initiated at the University?

A: The university initiated NEP Batches in 2022, with two batches currently ongoing. These courses are designed for completion within two years, with examination datesheets provided beforehand. This allows students to participate in various other examinations alongside their studies.

Q: As Controller of Examinations at KU, what are your future plans?

A: My primary goal is to minimize students’ physical visits to university campuses. We aim to send marks cards and degree certificates directly to respective colleges after results are declared. Additionally, we plan to upload data onto the National Academic Depository (NAD) platform, verified by the Government of India, enabling students to download their documents.

Q: What message do you have for students interested in pursuing education at Kashmir University?

A: Kashmir University, accredited with NAAC A+, offers students a premier educational experience with top-notch infrastructure and a conducive atmosphere. Here, students can pursue their dreams and aspirations with confidence.

Q: Does Kashmir University have social media platforms for student information dissemination?

A: We are in the process of establishing official social media accounts to provide students with timely updates on examinations, datesheets, and other relevant information. Our team is actively working on this initiative.
