Jammu, April 02: The Kashmiri Pandit leaders Wednesday condemned the recent vandalism at the Hari Parbat temple and demanding legal action against the perpetrators.
As per a statement issued here, an extraordinary meeting of prominent Kashmiri Pandits and representatives of major Kashmiri Pandit organisations was held at the sacred premises of Hari Parbat Temple, Dok Ploura, Jammu. The gathering was convened under the aegis of the esteemed Shri Shri Sharikashwari Sanstha, Hari Parbat and was chaired by MK Yogi.
“During the proceedings, Ranjeet Gurkha, the three-time democratically elected President of Shri Shri Sharika Chakrashwari Sanstha, presented a comprehensive report detailing developmental activities, including construction, repairs, renovation, electrification, asset protection and future organisational initiatives,” the statement said.
He also submitted separate account statements for the Jammu and Srinagar branches, supported by all necessary income and expenditure receipts and other relevant documents. “After thorough scrutiny, members found all records satisfactory and unanimously appreciated Shri Ranjeet Gurkha’s selfless service to the revered Goddess Shri Shri Sharika Chakrashwari. “The gathering unanimously reposed faith in his leadership and lauded his unwavering dedication to the spiritual and cultural cause,” the statement said. “The members strongly condemned a recent act of vandalism at the Hari Parbat Temple by an individual, allegedly aided by two accomplices, during the sacred occasion of New Year’s Day (Navreh).”
A joint appeal was made to the government and legal authorities to take immediate and strict action against these anti-community elements, accusing them of attempting to undermine the democratic institutions of the Kashmiri Pandit community in a manner reminiscent of historical communal aggressions. “Additionally, it was decided to serve legal notices to two self-styled YouTubers accused of irresponsibly stirring controversy and manipulating community sentiments for personal gain,” the statement said. “The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to safeguarding the sanctity of Kashmiri Pandit religious sites and institutions while urging the authorities to ensure justice and security for the community.”
