Srinagar, Oct 30: Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Wednesday convened his first official meeting with the party’s newly appointed district presidents, focusing on strategies to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence.
Karra called for rejuvenating organisational systems and enhancing operational effectiveness within the party. “Bringing this system on track is a priority,” he said, adding that upcoming programs from the central leadership would aim for tangible impacts in local communities.
The meeting also included discussions on effectively communicating the Congress party’s core values to the public, as well as clarifying its alliance with the National Conference.
Karra underscored the importance of advocating for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, alongside addressing critical local issues such as land and employment guarantees, which he noted are pivotal to residents’ concerns.
He also addressed Jammu and Kashmir’s escalating power crisis, referring to issues like rising power bills, increased metering, and challenges with rationing. “We’re committed to addressing these issues,” he said, adding that the party advocates for the regularisation of casual laborers who have faced employment uncertainties for years.
