Kargil: Tourism Department Kargil on Monday organized 4th Apricot Blossom Festival at Karkitchu Kargil of union territory of Ladakh.
During the event, EC Tourism highlighted the potential of Apricot and apple production and urged the villagers to send out a positive message to the rest of the world and to make the district tourism hub and to push economy.
He said the festival aims to promote tourism and to preserve culture. He lauded the villagers for displaying their local ethnic foods and traditional utensils.
EC Tash also informed that the UT Administration that the homestay scheme is the best scheme that will prove a game changer for the rural areas.
He also directed the Assistant Director Tourism to provide more and more homestays to the villagers of Karkitchu
During the occasion, EC, Mohsin Ali, Councilor Karkitchu, BDC, also threw light on the Apricot Blossom Festival and also shared their valuable thoughts.
Meanwhile, a colourful cultural program was presented by the artists of different groups and Natia Qawalis and Mushaira was also delivered.
Later, AD, Tourism in his address said that the district administration is committed to extending all possible support in order to give a further push for the export of apricots to national and international market.
The AD further said that along with the unique landscapes of Ladakh, tourists during the festival also have an interest to have a glimpse of local tradition, culture and food.
He hoped that the inflow of tourists along with the employment generation in the tourism sector will have a massive jump in coming years which will further push the economy.
