The health sector in Jammu and Kashmir has undergone significant transformations, spearheaded by the Health and Medical Education Department. Rising Kashmir delves into the key developments aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality across the region.
ABPMJAY and AB PM-JAY SEHAT: Revolutionizing Healthcare
As of March 05, over 84 lakh Ayushman Bharat–PradhanMantri Jan ArogyaYojana (AB-PMJAY) cards have been generated in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative has empanelled 249 hospitals, offering cashless secondary and tertiary inpatient care for beneficiaries. The scheme has been instrumental in safeguarding individuals from serious health hazards, with efforts underway to ensure 100% coverage through extensive awareness campaigns.
ABHA Health Cards: Digitizing Patient Records
The rollout of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in July 2022 introduced ABHA health cards in Jammu and Kashmir. With over 88 lakh ABHA IDs generated to date, the initiative aims to provide comprehensive coverage and enhance healthcare accessibility. Patients can securely store and share their medical records, facilitating appropriate treatment and follow-up. Notably, the ABDM received recognition for cueless OPD management, underscoring its effectiveness in streamlining healthcare services.
Scan & Share Queue System: A Digital Initiative
The Scan & Share Queue Management System, operating under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, has streamlined OPD registration across healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir. With QR code-based registration, patients can easily share their profile details, leading to a steady increase in token generation. The initiative, implemented in phases across medical colleges, district hospitals, and CHCs, has significantly improved service delivery.
Expansion of MBBS, PG, and DNB Seats: Catalyzing Medical Education
Post-2019, there has been a remarkable expansion in medical education opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir. The doubling of MBBS seats, along with a surge in PG and DNB seats, reflects the authorities’ commitment to advancing medical education and research. This historic decision has opened new avenues for aspiring doctors and strengthened the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
Tele-MANAS and Chat-bot: Pioneering Mental Health Support
The launch of J&K’s Tele-Mental Health Assistance and the introduction of an AI-driven chat-bot signify a significant leap in mental health support services. The Tele-MANAS center in Srinagar offers 24/7 counseling and assistance, addressing the barriers faced by mental health patients. This pioneering initiative underscores the region’s commitment to holistic healthcare delivery.
The post-2019 period has witnessed a paradigm shift in Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare landscape, marked by innovative initiatives aimed at ensuring comprehensive, accessible, and quality healthcare services for all residents.
