Srinagar, Mar 13: For scoring 477 runs in U-16 Boys Vijay Merchant Trophy, talented middle-order batter, Mohammad Zaid of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has been named for National Cricket Academy’s (NCA’s) prestigious Camp to be held at NCA Bengaluru, under the auspices of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from April 19 to May 15, 2024.
The letter from former Test Cricketer VVS Laxman, Head NCA to Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) reads–“The All-India Junior Selection Committee has selected Mohammad Zaid from your Association to attend the U-16 Boys Camp to be held from April 19 to May 15, 2024. The player has to report Team A at Mumbai Indians the afternoon on April 18”.
Talented Zaid has scored 477 runs in the ten innings of the five matches in the league phase of the U-16 Boys Vijay Merchant Trophy with four big half-centuries, scoring unbeaten 98 against formidable Karnataka, 92 and 77 against Rajasthan and 86 against strong Delhi.
Facing 674 balls in the tournament, promising Zaid averaged 53.00 with a healthy strike rate of 70.77, hitting 69 fours and 16 sixes in the tournament.
With his seam bowling, Zaid also took 5 wickets in the tournament.
“It is a great feeling. I accredit my success to the facilities provided by JKCA. We played a big number of matches at home, apart from playing matches during the exposure tours. That helped me a lot in scoring big runs,” said Zaid in an ecstatic mood.
The Sub Committee members of JKCA have congratulated Zaid for his selection.
