Jammu, Oct 9: Channelising her inner champion to pull J&K out of crisis with classic unbeaten 74 runs, paving the way for a six-wicket victory over almost equally poised Chandigarh, J&K’s talented batter Chitra Singh Jamwal despite being at her butchering best showed grace, elegance and brilliance to win hearts of the cricket lovers in an inter-state practice match as part of JKCA Senior Women T20 team’s Preparatory Camp at JKCA Hostel Ground, here on Monday.
Chasing a decent target of 111 runs set by Chandigarh, Chitra in the company of Anju Tomar (15), Rubia Syed (13) and Sarla Devi (5 not out) was in sublime touch from the word go, showing stellar grit and tenacity to notch up a power-packed half-century and guide her side to resounding victory in 18.1 overs. Hitting the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance, Chitra scored 74 off 56 balls, studded with 11 delectable boundaries.
Monika Bishnoi was the only successful bowler from Chandigarh, taking 2 wickets by conceding 15 runs in 4 her 4 overs, while skipper Kashvee Gautam though remaining wicketless was the most economical among the bowlers.
