Jammu, Oct 9: Channelising her inner champion to pull J&K out of crisis with classic unbeaten 74 runs, paving the way for a six-wicket victory over almost equally poised Chandigarh, J&K’s talented batter Chitra Singh Jamwal despite being at her butchering best showed grace, elegance and brilliance to win hearts of the cricket lovers in an inter-state practice match as part of JKCA Senior Women T20 team’s Preparatory Camp at JKCA Hostel Ground, here on Monday.
Chasing a decent target of 111 runs set by Chandigarh, Chitra in the company of Anju Tomar (15), Rubia Syed (13) and Sarla Devi (5 not out) was in sublime touch from the word go, showing stellar grit and tenacity to notch up a power-packed half-century and guide her side to resounding victory in 18.1 overs. Hitting the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance, Chitra scored 74 off 56 balls, studded with 11 delectable boundaries.
Monika Bishnoi was the only successful bowler from Chandigarh, taking 2 wickets by conceding 15 runs in 4 her 4 overs, while skipper Kashvee Gautam though remaining wicketless was the most economical among the bowlers.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Chandigarh sailed on a brilliant knock of 43 runs by Suman Rajput to score 110 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Shivangi Yadav also contributed 19 runs to the total.
For J&K, Sandhya Sayal, Sarla Devi and Anju Tomar claimed one wicket each.
Meanwhile, Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA and Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development JKCA delivered motivational lectures which boosted morale of the players.
While Brig Gupta advised the players to be disciplined for yeilding the better results, Manhas bestowed them some cricketing tips for excellence in future.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Rajesh Dhar and Rajni Sharma as Managers, while Chetan B Dhingra is the Head Coach and Nayna Kashyap as the Bowling Coach. Satika Sharma is the Trainer, while Lovely Bansal and Mujtaba Wani are the Physiotherapist and Video Analyst respectively.
CAC Member JKCA, Roopali Slathia and Senior Women Selectors–Surabhi Dhadeechi and Ankita Jalla observed the performance of the players.
