Jammu, March 08: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Saturday celebrated International Women’s Day by organising a Multilingual Mahila Kavi Ghoshthi at K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu.
The event was a tribute to the literary contributions of women poets and writers across multiple languages, reflecting their creative prowess and intellectual depth. The presidium for the occasion was shared by eminent literary figures including Sunita Bhadwal, Dogri Poet and Writer, Anila Singh Chark, Hindi poet and Writer, and Santosh Shah Nadan, renowned Kashmiri poetess. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Harvinder Kour, JKAS, Secretary, JKAACL. In her address, she emphasised that women are inherently empowered as they possess strong decision-making abilities. However, she highlighted the need to overcome existing challenges, particularly the persistent gender discrimination that still exists in society. She urged collective efforts to bridge the gap and ensure equal opportunities for both girls and boys.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, Divisional Head, JKAACL, Jammu, welcomed the esteemed guests and audience on behalf of the Academy. In his remarks, he acknowledged the invaluable contributions of women in literature and also expressed gratitude for the role of women in shaping his own life. The event saw the participation of accomplished poetesses who presented their poetry in different languages, making the occasion a true celebration of linguistic diversity. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks presented by Reeta Khadyal, Editor, Dogri, JKAACL, who expressed gratitude to all the poets, guests, and attendees for making the celebration a grand success. The Mahila Kavi Ghoshthi served as a platform to honour and celebrate the creative brilliance of women poets, furthering the mission of JKAACL to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of J&K.
