J&k polls : DEO Shopian chairs meeting with Zonal, Sectoral Magistrates

SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 14: In order to acquaint Zonal and Sector Magistrates on their role and responsibilities in the upcoming Assembly elections as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, the District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat, Shopian.

All officers were sensitised on compliance to various norms related to mock poll and its clearance, EVM Handling and replacement, placement of reserve polling staff in case of slow polling, periodic poll day reporting, security related coordination with police counterparts, coordination with POs and other related issues.

They were asked to ensure complete coordination with POs, ROs and with all stakeholders in order to see the better execution of elections in their allotted sectors/ zones.

The officers were also directed to ensure reporting of voter turnout on polling day well within the given timelines.

DEO instructed ROs to provide a check list to all Magistrates and also stressed on the officers to take their responsibility with utmost care and seriousness and stay proactive on the ground to ensure free, fair and smooth election processes in the district.

ADC and RO Shopian also briefed them about their crucial duties on pre- poll, poll and post poll days.

11 sector Magistrates have been deployed for Shopian AC while 14 have been deployed in Zainapora AC in order to facilitate the smooth conduct of elections in the district.
