JAMMU, Dec 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, on Thursday reaffirmed the Modi Govern-ment’s commitment to inclusive development in the region, emphasizing that J&K is advancing on the path of equality, opportunity, and social justice under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Addressing a gathering at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University, the LG stated, “The speed of project executions and completions in Jammu and Kashmir has increased tenfold, reflecting our determination to ensure the welfare of the people of J&K, which remains our prime responsibility,”
Sinha praised the transformative changes in the region, underlining that these developments rep-resent a shift towards inclusive growth, eliminating biases, and fostering hope and stability among the people of J&K.
“The strengthening of grass-roots democracy is one of the key achievements of PM Modi’s lead-ership,” said the LG. “Panchayat representatives now have the authority to take decisions for the development of their respective areas.”
Sinha also noted the visible progress in bridging the gap between basic amenities and citizens’ aspirations, whether in urban or rural areas. He highlighted efforts aimed at uplifting marginal-ized communities, including those displaced from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Western Pakistan.
“The sacrifices of figures like General Zorawar Singh, rooted in the quest for harmony, peace, and prosperity, continue to resonate with our efforts to end long-standing discriminatory practic-es and bring marginalized groups into the mainstream,” the LG remarked.
He described General Zorawar Singh as a beacon of inspiration, teaching the values of courage and determination in national service, while preserving the essence of Indian civilization.
Sinha expressed his gratitude to the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charita-ble Trust for their role in preserving the legacy of the great warrior. “Their efforts to spread the memory and contributions of General Zorawar Singh reflect the pride and confidence of our na-tion,” he added.
The LG emphasized the importance of preserving the memories of great personalities, saying, “A society that fails to honor its great men and draw inspiration from them risks losing its identity in history.”
Sinha hailed General Zorawar Singh as a symbol of national unity, courage, and resolve. “His life epitomizes the dream of a strong India,” he said, adding that the general played a crucial role un-der Maharaja Gulab Singh’s leadership in expanding the Dogra empire and realizing the vision of a united India.
The LG also praised Singh’s military campaigns in Ladakh and Baltistan, which demonstrated exceptional planning and willpower.
“Efforts over the past decade have been focused on turning the ideals of great personalities like General Zorawar Singh into a strength for the nation,” Sinha concluded.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Shagun Parihar, MLA from Kishtwar; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Devinder Singh Kaluria, Chairman of the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Trust; Trustees Riya Kaluria and Diksha Kaluria; senior offi-cials from the Army, Civil and Police Administration; and a large number of prominent citizens and students.
