A delegation of officials from J&K visited Shri Vishwakarma Skill University on Wednesday with the objective of establishing a Skill University in Jammu and Kashmir.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Raj Nehru warmly welcomed the officials and had detailed discussions with them on the Skill University model.
Prior to this, Dr. Raj Nehru had also held a consultative meeting with Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo regarding the establishment of the Skill University.
To bring this plan to fruition, the delegation came to study the model of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University. The delegation includes officers Director of Skill Development Sudarshan Kumar, Joint Director of Skill Development Farooq Ahmad Khan, Principal of Government Polytechnic Kishtwar Mehmood Ahmad Khan, Assistant Director of the Skill Development Department Ravi Gupta, and Lecturer at Government Polytechnic Anantnag Shakeel Ahmad Dar.
Under the leadership of Professor Jyoti Rana, Registrar of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, university officials gave presentations on various dimensions of the skill education model in higher education.
Professor Jyoti Rana provided detailed information about the infrastructural development of the university, and Dean of Academics Professor R.S. Rathore presented a report on the skill model in higher education.
Director of the Center of Excellence Dr. Mani Kanwar Singh, Professor Kulwant Singh, Professor A.K. Vatal, Professor Joy Kuriakoje, Dr. Sanjay Singh Rathore, Joint Director Shikha Gupta, and Web Administrator Praveen Arya also gave presentations from their respective departments.
The officials from Jammu and Kashmir visited the India’s first Innovative Skill School established on the university campus.
Principal Dr. Jalbir Singh explained the school’s model to them. The officials also interacted with the students. They visited the Construction Skill Academy and expressed their delight at seeing the various world-class labs at the Center of Excellence. They also observed the world-class sports complex.
Deputy Director of the Industry Integration Cell, Amish Ameya, guided the officials from Jammu and Kashmir on a tour of AutoLek and Jayem Industries. In honor of the Kashmiri guests, students presented programs based on Haryanvi culture.
Director of Skill Development in Jammu and Kashmir, Sudarshan Kumar, said that Vice-Chancellor Dr. Raj Nehru of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University has presented an ideal model of a skill university to the country.
This will serve as a roadmap for establishing a skill university in Jammu and Kashmir.
The work on establishing the university based on this model will commence soon, making the path of skill development easier for millions of youth in Jammu and Kashmir. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Raj Nehru assured full support in establishing the Skill University in Jammu and Kashmir.
