SRINAGAR, OCT 30: The government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced a decision to revert the academic session for grades up to 9th back to November-December, replacing the previous March schedule.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while speaking at the occasion said that this was the long pending demand from students and parents from Kashmir and winter zone of Jammu that exam schedule should be revisited, and bring it to the previous position.
“I express my gratitude to Minister of Education Sakeena Itoo for presenting this proposal to the cabinet, which has subsequently approved it,” Abdullah said.
The Chief Minister said that the examination schedules for grades 10, 11, and 12 will remain unchanged for this year due to the current board examination situation. “However, I assure students that their examination schedules will be revised starting next year,” he added. He expressed hope that this decision would provide relief to students and their families in the Kashmir Valley and the winter zone of Jammu.
In a statement on her official X account, Minister for Education Sakina Itoo confirmed the reversion of the academic session to November-December for non-board classes, specifically for grades up to 9th, in both Kashmir and the winter zones of Jammu. “For higher classes, the session will be reinstated from next year. I extend my thanks to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his swift action on this matter, which has been a concern for students, teachers, and parents,” she stated.
