Srinagar, July 26: In the run-up to the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced a series of online competitions across the Union Territory to engage citizens, particularly youth, in patriotic and creative expression. The top three winners in each competition will receive cash prizes ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.Essay Writing Competition — ‘Viksit Bharat @2024’. An online essay writing competition themed ‘Viksit Bharat @2024’ began on 20 July 2025 and will remain open until August 10. Participants can submit their entries through the official submission link. Running concurrently is the National Anthem Singing Competition, which features individual and group categories. Entrants must be residents of Jammu and Kashmir and at least 13 years of age. Participants must upload an HD-quality video of their performance by August 10. District-level winners will progress to the divisional level, and all participants will receive certificates of participation. The third event is an online painting competition, inviting participants to draw their favourite freedom fighter as a tribute to their legacy. Like the other contests, it began on July 20 and closes on August 10. The initiative is part of the J&K Government’s broader Independence Day engagement strategy aimed at encouraging creativity, historical awareness and national pride among residents—particularly youth. For participation, residents must use the official submission forms provided for each category.
