Srinagar, Nov 13: Jammu and Kashmir’s Directorate of Ayush, Directorate of Ayush, Department of Health and Medical Education, has charted a comprehensive plan for National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) certification of 100 Health and Wellness Centre.
Ayush officials aim to enhance healthcare services and address infrastructure gaps in Ayush Health and Wellness Centers. The directorate plans to align with the Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India’s guidelines for a quality circle in healthcare service delivery.
Officials of Ayush said to provide quality health care services to people and to fill gaps in Ayush H&WCs, the directorate plans to enter into the quality circle of Ayush health care service delivery as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
Director AYUSH J&K, Dr Mohan Singh, said the initiatives are taken under the guidance of the Secretary Health & Medical Education Department, Bhupinder Kumar.
Singh said that some 100 more centres are targeted to be registered for NABH certification by the end of the Financial Year 2023-24 i.e. up to March 2024.
“NABH provides accreditation to healthcare organizations in a non-discriminatory manner regardless of their ownership, legal status, size and degree of independence. The objective of NABH standards is to improve healthcare quality and patient safety,” he said.
Notably, the Directorate of Ayush in convergence with the NABH has trained all Medical Officers, CHOs on various parameters of NABH accreditation so that gaps are filled and AH&WCs can be accredited.
The director said over 300 MOs and CHOs working in AH&WCs and Ayush dispensaries were trained in the NABH program in J&K by a team of resource persons from NABH.
“We have identified 100 centers for pre-accreditation NABH certification and deployed a team for the purpose so that after scrutinizing these AH&WCs centres all the formalities of pre-accreditation can be fulfilled,” he said.
Singh said the move will bring change in service delivery and motivate the general public to avail comprehensive primary health which include promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative.
The director said from April 2023 to till date more than 32 lakh patients have availed various Ayush consultations in Ayush health and wellness centres.
“Through institutional consultations, public health outreach programs being implemented at ground level by Ayush Health & Wellness centres, 41 lakh beneficiaries were provided consultations based on Ayush principles and practices for the year 2022-23,” he said.
The footfall and demand of Ayush services has increased manifold by new initiatives of Ayush by inter-sectoral convergence under Ayushman Bhava campaign.
Pertinently, some of the programs like Anemia Mukt Bharat, Non-Communicable Diseases Mukt Bharat, Promotion of Millets under Eat Right Campaign, Nasha Mukt Bharat are being organized by Ayush medical and paramedical staff and these are gaining momentum.
He said that to enhance the popularization of Yoga, Ayush Health and Wellness Centres are providing free therapeutic and wellness yoga sessions through yoga instructors.
“More than 250 yoga instructors have been deployed till date at Ayush H&WCs and 700 more yoga instructors shall soon be deployed to provide comprehensive yoga services from Ayush H&WCs,” the director said.
