Jammu, Aug 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make the final decision on the selection of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir.
Sources within the party informed Rising Kashmir that the BJP high command on Friday conducted an extensive meeting with senior leaders from J&K, including General Secretaries and the J&K President, Ravinder Raina.
The meeting, held in Delhi, was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda. Key figures present included General Secretaries Ashok Koul, Sunil Sharma, Vibodh Gupta, Dr Devinder Manyal, National General Secretary Dushyant Gautam, Ram Madhav and G Kishan Reddy.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the potential candidates for the assembly elections in J&K, along with the party’s manifesto, sources said.
They said PM Modi will finalise the list of candidates on Saturday. It is also likely that the BJP will release its manifesto for the elections soon, he added.
The first phase of the assembly elections in J&K is scheduled for September 18, with the final date for nominations being August 27.
