Baramulla, Dec 08: Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday approved renaming Jhelum Stadium Janbazpora in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after former Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat.
In an official order with government order number 1579-JK(GAD) of 2023, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir stated that approval has been granted to name Jhelum Stadium, Janbazpora as the “General Bipin Rawat Stadium.”
“The Youth Services and Sports Department and Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, shall take immediate necessary steps, including amending their records for effecting the change,” the official order reads.
The order further states that Divisional Commissioner Kashmir shall ensure that an appropriate event is organized in connection with naming the stadium.
