Srinagar, Mar 03: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that sensitive points in the valley are being monitored and under surveillance to thwart any attack from the anti-national elements.
The move comes 4-days after Kashmiri Pandit who was a bank guard by profession, was shot dead by terrorists in the Pulwama district on Sunday, sparking wide condemnation by the local people.
Following this incident, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that security forces were being given a free hand to deal with the case.
A senior official at the police department told Rising Kashmir that following Pulwama target killing, the sensitive spots are still under surveillance. There is more deployment of troops and vehicles fitted with CCTV cameras are being deployed to thwart any attack from the anti-national elements,” he said.
The official said the new security plan will continue to operate in Kashmir and loopholes are being reviewed to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the region.
“To ensure peace and security, some majors have been taken for the safety of people in the City and there will be no compromise on it,” he said.
Earlier this week, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar held a security review meeting in Pulwama and stressed implementing additional security measures in order to prevent such terror incidents.
ADGP Kumar visited Pulwama and held a detailed security review meeting in which officers of the Police and other security forces participated.
The meeting was attended by security meeting officers including Army’s Sector Commander, DIG Police, DIG CRPF, SSP Pulwama, Army’s CO and CRPF’s Commandants and other officers.
