Jhajjar Kotli accident: Two number plates found from site, Police seeks help of ARTO

JAMMU, May 31: In a significant development, two number plates were found in  the Vaishnodevi Devi bound bus, which met with a tragic accident yesterday morning, has raiseed serious questions. 
SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Azad Manhas informed Rising Kashmir that “two number plates have been found from the accident site” and that “We have called the team of ARTO to help in the probe.”  
“The investigation into the matter is on, and things will come out clearly within a day or two,” he said. 
Ten people lost their lives and 63 were injured in the accident after the bus they were travelling in rolled down from a bridge into the gorge at Jhajjar Kotli. All the injured were shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu for treatment.
“Forty persons have been discharged from the GMC,” Medical Superintendent, GMC-J, Dr Rajinder Bhutiyal told Rising Kashmir, while adding, “the four critically injured are also responding to the treatment”. 
Bodies of some of the deceased have been sent to their native homes, while the bodies of other deceased will be sent tomorrow to their homes.  
The bus, which met with this tragic accident at 5:30 am yesterday, was on its way to Katra from Amritsar.  
All those travelling in the bus were close relatives and were going to Mata Vaishno Devi for performing Mundan ceremony.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident in Jammu and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand for people who sustained injuries.
At least 10 people were killed and around 63 injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Tuesday morning. “Expressing grief on the bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir, PM @narendramodi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” PMO tweeted.
According to officials, the bus was on its way to Katra from Amritsar when the incident took place near Jhajjar Kotli – about 15 km from Katra in Jammu district.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Chandan Kohli on Tuesday said that all the injured were shifted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment. 
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also expressed condolences. (ANI)
