Ganderbal, Feb 23: Minister for Agriculture Production Department, Javaid Ahmad Dar, today visited the Trout Fish Farm in Mamer, Ganderbal district, to review its operations and assess the progress of the Fisheries Department.

The minister was accompanied by MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali, Director Fisheries Jammu & Kashmir, and other senior officials from the department.

During the visit, Minister Dar inspected the farm’s facilities and expressed satisfaction with its functioning, stating that the department is “doing better” in its efforts to promote sustainable aquaculture and fisheries development. He commended the officials for their dedication and highlighted the potential of the sector to contribute significantly to the region’s economy.

In his address, Dar emphasized the importance of youth engagement in the agriculture and fisheries sectors. He urged young people to explore career opportunities in animal husbandry, fisheries, and related fields, noting that the department is actively working to create avenues for employment and entrepreneurship. “The youth have a pivotal role to play in the growth of our agricultural and fisheries sectors. We are committed to providing them with the necessary support and resources to succeed,” he said.

The minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting agricultural innovation and development through various flagship programs. He encouraged farmers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of these initiatives, which aim to enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability in the sector.

MLA Mian Mehar Ali echoed Dar’s sentiments, praising the efforts of the Fisheries Department and calling for increased collaboration between the government and local communities to further develop the region’s agricultural potential.
