Jammu, May 09: Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry is all set to defer its elections following the directions from the Divisional Commissioner.
A statement said that an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu was convened by Shiv Partap Gupta, Election President, to apprise members of the verbal directions issued by the Divisional Commissioner regarding the conduct of the May 11 election. It was further conveyed that the office of the Divisional Commissioner had written to the President, advising that it would not be appropriate to hold the election in view of the prevailing situation along the border. Taking into account the drone and missile attack on Jammu by Pakistan on the night of May 8 and the advisory from the Divisional Commissioner, the Executive Committee, by majority opinion, resolved to defer the election until normalcy is restored.
The Election President announced that the present team of office bearers shall continue to function until the Executive Committee decides on a fresh date for elections. The Executive Committee, by majority, approved the announcement of the Election President.
