Srinagar, Aug 12: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) today commenced its Anti-Ragging Week celebrations, to promote a safe, inclusive and respectful campus environment. Organised by the Proctor’s Office in association with the Dean of Students and the Centre for Wellness Health, the programme aims to strengthen awareness and preventive measures against ragging.As per a statement issued here, the inaugural session was chaired by dean academic affairs, Prof. A.H. Moon, who stressed the collective responsibility of eradicating ragging from educational institutions. Chief Guest, Urfa Aijaz, prosecuting officer, Pulwama, delivered an address on the legal framework, penalties for offenders, and the psychological impact on victims, while underscoring the role of counselling and rehabilitation in recovery. Senior Proctor, Dr. Hashim Rasool, outlined the proactive measures taken by the Proctor’s Office to maintain discipline and harmony, urging students and staff to remain vigilant and foster mutual respect. The session was moderated by Counsellor . Urooj Manzoor, who highlighted the Centre for Wellness Health’s initiatives for student well-being. The week-long programme will feature interactive sessions, awareness drives, and engagement activities to promote empathy, respect, and mental well-being across the IUST campus
