Makkah al-Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia Mar 09: Haji Syed Salman Chishty, Gaddi Nashin of Dargah Ajmer Sharif and Chairman of the Chishty Foundation, represented India’s rich Islamic and spiritual heritage at the International Conference: Building Bridges Between Islamic Thoughts, held in Makkah al-Mukarramah under the esteemed patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This prestigious conference was hosted by the Muslim World League, aligning with the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030, which promotes moderation, unity, peace, and progressive harmony in the Muslim world.
This historic gathering, taking place in the sacred month of Ramadan 1446 AH, brought together eminent scholars, faith leaders, and intellectuals from across the Muslim world to discuss “The Jurisprudence of Differences and the Culture of Coalition.” The conference aimed to strengthen intra-faith unity by fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between different Islamic schools of thought.
In his keynote address, Haji Syed Salman Chishty emphasised the rich spiritual traditions of the Indian Muslim community, which have long upheld the values of inclusivity, unity in diversity, and interfaith harmony.
Drawing inspiration from Surah Aal-E-Imran (3:103), he urged the Muslim Ummah to hold fast to the rope of Allah in unity and called for concrete steps to combat sectarianism, promote intra-faith dialogue, and engage in humanitarian initiatives that reflect the core principles of Islam—compassion, justice, and service to humanity.
Representing Ajmer Sharif, the spiritual heart of the Indian Muslim community, he shared insights from the teachings of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, Hazrat Moinuddin Chishty (r.a.), whose legacy continues to inspire millions in their quest for love, harmony, and unity.
Haji Syed Salman Chishty also emphasized the role of digital platforms in bringing scholars together and proposed initiatives for global scholarly collaboration to address contemporary challenges.
Haji Syed Salman Chishty extended his gratitude on behalf of Ajmer Sharif, India to His Excellency Shaikh Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League for the important and much needed initiative through this global conference and also thanked His Holiness Shaikh Abdul Rahman ibn Abdul Aziz al-Sudais, the Chief Imam of the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia and the President of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques for his gracious presence and world of wisdom reflecting upon the importance of moderation, unity, peace and progressive Harmony across the Islamic World and Humanity at large.
