Jammu, Aug 03: The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) in Jammu has gone haywire as this high-tech traffic management system is functional in 20 junctions out of the designated 44 in the city at various prominent locations.
Around six months have passed since the ITMS was put in place in Jammu with an aim to keep a close watch on traffic violations of different kinds and penalising the offenders.
There are many technical glitches in making functional all 44 junctions with Intelligent Traffic Management System. “The system needs to be upgraded due to certain constraints like storage, server’s limitations, issues concerning the memory of the system, etc,” Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), JP Singh told Rising Kashmir.
As per the present system, we are still checking various things like capturing footage, and pictures and whether they are giving proper information or not, Singh said, adding that it will still take around one month to streamline the things and make the Intelligent Traffic Management System fully functional in Jammu.
The worrying aspect of the matter is that there is a lot of confusion among the people as the traffic has kept the signals at various locations on blinking mode, which in turn is creating problems for the people.
The people assume that the signal is on blinking mode and they would not be challaned. They jump the signals. They also have to wait for a long as they are not sure whether the signal is fully functional or it is in blinking mode.
