Srinagar, Apr 23: Two terrorists were killed on Wednesday as an infiltration attempt was foiled by security forces along the Line of Control in Uri sector of Baramulla district, officials said.

The identity of terrorists is being ascertained, it added.
Meanwhile, another encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Kulgam district on Wednesday evening.
Officials said that security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Tangmarg area of Kulgam following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the region.
“As the security forces approached the location where the terrorists were hiding, they opened fire, triggering an encounter. The gunfight is currently underway, and additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area to prevent any escape,” a senior official said.
The encounters in Kulgam and the infiltration bid in Baramulla come a day after Pakistan-sponsored terrorists carried out a brutal attack in a meadow near Pahalgam in Anantnag district, killing 26 civilians.
