Dubai, June 03: In a groundbreaking moment for Indian motorsport, Atiqa Mir, a 10-year-old Dubai-based karting prodigy, has become the youngest Indian driver to be inducted into a professional motorsport development programme. She joins the AKCEL GP Academy as an official driver, marking a major milestone in her already impressive career.
This strategic signing underscores a broader shift in motorsport accessibility and inclusion, while also reinforcing the UAE’s position as a rising global hub for nurturing elite racing talent. A rising star on the international karting circuit, Atiqa has already made waves with her fearless driving, consistent podium finishes, and unshakable passion for the sport. She has competed in some of the world’s most prestigious championships, including the Rotax Euro Trophy, Rotax International Trophy, IAME Series (UAE and Europe), WSK Euro Series, WSK Super Master Series, and Champions of the Future Academy.
Atiqa’s signing coincides with the official launch of the AKCEL GP Academy—the flagship development arm of AKCEL GP, a UAE-based high-performance motorsport team competing in FIA Formula 4, Formula Regional Middle East, and FIA Formula 3. Scheduled to open in Abu Dhabi in August 2025, the Academy will serve as a state-of-the-art training facility for the next generation of racing talent from the UAE and around the world. The inaugural cohort will feature 15 promising young drivers, each embarking on a structured and competitive development pathway that begins with elite karting and progresses through the ranks of single-seater racing. Amit Kaushal, Group Chairman of AKCEL Group, commented: “Atiqa’s talent, focus, and composure on track are far beyond her years. We are proud to welcome her to the AKCEL GP family and to support her long-term journey toward Formula 1. Over the next 15 years, we are committed to guiding her development from karting to single-seaters, as she evolves into a world-class driver and a serious F1 contender.” As part of the Academy, Atiqa will begin an intensive, personalized training program in Abu Dhabi. This will include simulator work, physical conditioning, technical and tactical racecraft development, as well as participation in international karting and junior formula events—all aimed at preparing her for the rigors of professional motorsport. Atiqa’s inclusion in the program is not only a personal triumph but also a beacon of inspiration for young drivers across India and the Middle East. Her journey reflects the power of passion, discipline, and opportunity—and signals a bold new era for diversity and youth development in global motorsport.
