Jammu, May 05: Following the attack on the Indian Air Force (IAF) Convoy in Poonch, security forces have encircled terrorists in the dense forests, launching an intense joint search operation. Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) are actively involved in the operation.
According to PRO Defence, SuneelBartwal, “Terrorists involved in yesterday’s attack have been surrounded by security forces. However, the exact number of terrorists is yet to be determined. The search operation is underway.”
Sources reveal heavy reinforcements, including Para Commandos, have been mobilized to track down the terrorists responsible for the attack. Additionally, security forces have detained several suspects from nearby villages for questioning.
Meanwhile, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain, along with senior Army and intelligence officers, visited the ambush site in Surankote. Aerial surveillance of the area was conducted using helicopters and drones.
The attack on Saturday near Shahsitar resulted in injuries to five IAF personnel, with Corporal VikkyPahade succumbing to his injuries at a military hospital. The IAF paid homage to Corporal Pahade, expressing condolences to his family.
“The Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari and all personnel of the Indian Air Force salute the braveheart Corporal VikkyPahade, who made the supreme sacrifice in Poonch sector, in the service of the nation. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We stand firmly by your side in this hour of grief,” stated the IAF on X.
Para Commandos teams are actively participating in the search operation, intensifying efforts to locate and neutralize the terrorists involved.
Calling for wider dissemination of Rai’s works, the Lt. Governor stressed the importance of translating them into different languages to reach a broader audience and perpetuate his profound impact on literature and culture.
