Anantnag, July 12: After a 34-year hiatus, the revered Uma Bhagwati Asthapan in Brari Aagan village, Uttersoo, South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, will once again host the Samoohik Hawan. This sacred ritual coincides with the Moorti Pratishta at the ancient temple of Goddess Uma Bhagwati.
The Hawan will commence on July 13th with the Kalash Pooja, culminating in Puran Ahuthi and Prasad Vitran the following day. The event marks a significant milestone for the Uma Bhagwati Asthapan Trust, which has overseen the temple’s restoration for the past 15 years.
Pushkar Nath Koul, Vice President of the Uma Bhagwati Asthapan Trust, expressed his joy over the successful coordination with local communities and the influx of visitors from Jammu and beyond. “We are thrilled to see so many people joining us for this religious festivity,” Koul said.
The temple, which had suffered vandalism during past turmoil, has been under continuous renovation since 2008. Koul praised the efforts of the central government, LG Manoj Sinha, and DC Anantnag in facilitating the return of Kashmiri Pandits and the harmonious coexistence with the local Muslim community.
A local Muslim attendee highlighted the resurgence of communal harmony reminiscent of pre-exodus times. “The return of Kashmiri Pandits to the temple brings immense joy,” he noted, expressing gratitude to the authorities for their role in this revival.
The festival of Uma Bhagwati, an important event for the Kashmiri Pandit community, will continue until July 14th. Vice President Koul extended a warm invitation to all members of the community to participate in the celebrations and witness the restored divine glory of the shrine.
