Srinagar, May 22: A unique convergence of artists from all around Jammu and Kashmir took place during the G20 summit in Srinagar, creating a momentous occasion for the region. Officials said it was the first time that artists from all districts of Jammu and Kashmir had gathered on a global platform to display their extraordinary talents.
They said that these artists were registered with the Academy of Art and Culture, which operates across the Union Territory. The opportunity to perform at such a famous event was considered a stroke of luck for these artists , who were anxious to showcase their traditional folk music and other artistic expressions. The cultural academy played an important role in facilitating their involvement.
An officer shared his opinion that occasions like this significantly raise the morale of the artists while highlighting the wealth of talent in Jammu and Kashmir. The artists themselves were happy for the opportunity to showcase their talents because they had been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time. They hoped that by performing, they would not only be recognised but also be able to support themselves via their art.
Irfan Ahmad, one of the artists who played at the occasion, expressed his joy at having the opportunity to display his talent on such a magnificent platform. He acknowledged the rarity of such possibilities and saw it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Ahmad, meanwhile , hoped that the event will provide opportunities for artists in Jammu and Kashmir to make a living from their creative pursuits.
Pertinently, the tourism department recently highlighted the significance of the G20 tourism summit in providing a tremendous platform for the talented artists of Jammu and Kashmir. They stressed that the event would not only showcase their abilities but also garner international recognition for their skills.
Another musician, Nasir Ali Khan, expressed his delight at the unprecedented chance for artists from Jammu and Kashmir to perform together on one platform. “He emphasised that events like these give artists courage and that the region is brimming with talented individuals who only need guidance and a platform to thrive.”
It is hoped that such events will be organized regularly, enabling Jammu and Kashmir’s artists to gain recognition and generate employment opportunities, Khan said, adding the artists’ participation in the G20 summit not only highlighted their immense talent but also underscored the cultural richness of Jammu and Kashmir on the global stage.
