H&H dept inaugurates Craft Exhibition at Gulmarg

Srinagar, Nov 21: A 10 days ‘Craft Exhibition’ organized by the Department of H&H Kashmir was inaugurated on Tuesday in Gulmarg wherein an exhibition-cum-sale of handicraft products is in progress.
The exhibition will showcase the finest crafts from Kashmir. 20 Stalls displaying artifacts of various Handicrafts and Handloom Sector have been set up at the exhibition with the objective to provide market linkage to the artisans and to help boost the handicraft sector at the grassroots level. The department is encouraging the people to come forward and avail various schemes and facilities extended by the department.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Director Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah. He said that the exhibition would give artisans a suitable marketing platform to sell their products directly to the buyers and will further give the tourists an opportunity to get a glimpse of the rich art and craft of Kashmir.
The Director H&H inspected the Stalls and interacted with the grassroots level artisans who have been provided rent-free space by the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir to sell their products directly to the buyers at this prestigious spot. The Department is currently organising Exhibitions at Boulevard and Pahalgam. The events will continue in the current winter season within and outside the UT.
Among others, Assistant Director Handicrafts/ Handloom Baramulla and other senior officers from the department were present at the event.
