Srinagar, July 20: Chairman J&K People’s Democratic Front (JKPDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has offered good wishes to the people, especially the Muslims, on the occasion of the first month of the Islamic Calendar known as Muharram-ul-Haram in Hijri.
In his message, Hakeem Yaseen said the month holds great significance for Muslims around the world as Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions offered supreme sacrifices of their lives for the cause of righteousness, justice and truth.
“Moreover, the month is observed as the most sacred since 622 AD when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated from Mecca to Yathrib (now called Medina) to spread the message of Islam. The 10th day of Muharram named ‘Ashurah’ was the most sacred day which is being observed by all Muslims all over the world,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of Muharam, the PDP chairman said it was the 1st day of Muharram when ‘Ameer-ul- Moomineen’Hazrat Farooq-e-Azam (RA) attained martyrdom.
The former minister prayed that the month of Muharram-ul-Haram may prove a time of forgiveness, mercy, and abundant blessings for the people, especially the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He has urged the LG administration to make foolproof Muharram arrangements in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir including the Shia-dominated areas of Budgam and Khansahib.
