Rains and hailstorm caused damage to the orchards in various areas of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, thus leaving farmers in distress over expected losses.
Locals from Aloosa, Benlipora, Ketsen and its adjoining areas told Rising Kashmir that rains and hailstorm damaged crops and various kinds of fruits and vegetables in the district.
Mohammad Yousuf, a local from Aloosa village of Bandipora told Rising Kashmir that strong hailstorm continued for about 20 minutes which resulted in damage to apple and other fruits.
Meanwhile Chief Horticulture office Bandipora, Farooq Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that Hailstorm occurred at Ketsun, chichinaar, Benlipora areas of Bandipora and as per priliminary reports intensity was less but field staff is on job and detailed report shall follow.
