Jammu Jan 19: Rattan Lal Gupta, provincial president of National Conference (NC) on Sunday reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to the empowerment of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, terming them as the backbone of society.
He was addressing a joining program held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu, where he strongly criticised the Central government for failing to fulfill its promises made on August 5, 2019, regarding the development of J&K. The joining programme was organised by S. Tejinder Singh Aman, District President Jammu Urban Youth National Conference, the party said in a statement issued here.
Expressing deep resentment, Gupta stated that despite grand assurances on the floor of the Parliament, the ground reality in J&K remains unchanged. He said that unemployment in the region has reached its peak in the last ten years, with no tangible outcomes from the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 85,000 crore signed by the previous J&K government. He lamented that no major industries have been established, leaving the youth struggling for employment opportunities.
The senior NC leader further said the Omar Abdullah-led government has always been dedicated to the cause of youth empowerment. He urged the newly joined members to create awareness among the youth regarding various government schemes to foster entrepreneurship in J&K. “J&K’s youth are hardworking and equally competent as their counterparts across the country, but they require adequate support and opportunities to excel,” he said.
Calling upon the party cadre, the NC leader urged them to strengthen the hands of Omar Abdullah and work diligently towards ensuring that the youth of J&K receive their due rights and opportunities. He reiterated the NC government’s commitment to building a progressive and prosperous future for the younger generation, saying their growth and success are pivotal to the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The party would continue to advocate for policies and programmes that focus on skill development, job creation and educational advancement to ensure that no young individual in the region is left behind,” he said.
The NC provincial president underscored the necessity of collective efforts in shaping a future where the youth can contribute meaningfully to the progress of J&K. He reiterated the party’s resolve to stand by them in their aspirations and struggles.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, provincial secretary Jammu asked the newly joined members to work hard and actively engage with the people at the grassroots level. He called for strengthening the party’s base by connecting with the youth and addressing their concerns.
Addressing the gathering, Tejinder Pal Singh Aman called for a proactive approach to address the public concerns.
Those who joined the party fold include Raman Sharma, Tanveet Singh, Harsimarjeet Singh, Charanpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh, Taranpal Singh, Taranjit Singh, Karanvir Singh, Shushant Bhaderwaj, Amit pal Singh, Kirsh Kumar, Kewal, Tarsem, Sunny and others, according to the statement.
