Srinagar, Apr 07: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said the Tourism Department is actively working to enhance tourism infrastructure in Doodhpathri and Tosamaidan. This initiative includes the development of various amenities such as budget accommodations, huts, cafeterias, kiosks, tourist facilitation centres, viewing decks and public conveniences.
Responding to a query from MLA Saif-u-din Bhat during the Assembly session, the minister responsible for the Tourism Department indicated that the revision and formulation of master plans for the Tourism Development Authorities, which encompass Doodhpathri and Tosamaidan, are currently under review within the department.
The minister said food courts and kiosks have been established in Doodhpathri to cater to tourists’ needs, and these facilities have been outsourced for management.
He clarified that no Yatri Niwas buildings have been constructed at Raithan, Raiyar, Doodpathri or Sitaharan Tosamaidan. However, the Development Authority has created certain accommodation options at Doodhpathri and Tosamaidan to assist tourists.
The minister said plans are underway to further enhance tourism infrastructure, which includes the construction of huts, cafeterias, parking areas, road upgrades, wayside amenities, and the development of new trekking and hiking routes to improve the overall experience for visitors.
