Srinagar, March 20: In a move to enhance digital governance, the Jammu and Kashmir government has established two committees dedicated to the implementation of the National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM).
As per the official communication, the formation of the Union Territory High Powered Steering Committee and the Union Territory Level Implementation Committee will work towards modernizing urban management and services.
The Chief Secretary of J&K will lead the High Powered Steering Committee to ensure top-level oversight and strategic direction while the Implementation Committee, chaired by the Commissioner Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, will focus on the operational aspects of the mission, it added.
It said that these committees are composed of key officials from various departments and their mandate includes providing guidance, resolving inter-departmental coordination issues, reviewing fund availability, and monitoring the progress of the NUDM.
It said that meeting biannually, the High Powered Steering Committee will offer comprehensive guidance, while the Implementation Committee will convene bimonthly to review progress, recommend reforms, and address any challenges that arise.
This initiative is expected to streamline urban governance and boost a more connected, efficient, and citizen-centric administration in Jammu and Kashmir, aligning with the broader goals of the NUDM to transform urban areas into more livable and sustainable spaces, it added.
