Srinagar, April 03: In an effort to improve healthcare services for people in remote areas of Handwara, the Government Medical College (GMC) administration has prohibited AYUSH doctors from attending patients in OPDs.
The decision was made following numerous complaints from patients about the large number of AYUSH doctors treating patients at the associated hospital, GMC Handwara. The principal, Dr. Iffat Shah, has strictly instructed these doctors not to attend OPDs.
According to local residents, AYUSH doctors have been treating patients and prescribing English medicines for the past two years, including patients with ENT complications. Javid Ahmad, a local resident, expressed concern that patients were not receiving proper care and that the hospital was understaffed.
Since Dr. Iffat Shah took over as principal, the hospital has undergone significant changes, with employees now wearing proper dress codes and being seen in their respective sections during duty hours.
However, the hospital is facing a space crunch due to the large number of patients from remote areas seeking medical care. Some patients have no choice but to seek treatment elsewhere due to the lack of space.
The people of the area are urging Dr. Iffat Shah to raise the issue of the new hospital with higher officials in order to alleviate the space crunch and provide better healthcare services for the general public.
The people hope that the head of the institution will continue to work with the same enthusiasm to provide people with better healthcare facilities.
