Uri, Dec 20: Forest Range Uri and Eco-Tourism, in collaboration with Pir Panjal Adventure Club, organized a one-day trekking program to promote winter tourism in Sub Division Uri.
A group of 13 girls from the Pir Panjal Adventure Club, led by Mohammad Saad Lone, successfully trekked from Salamabad to Sumgali, a breathtaking destination for adventure lovers.
Anurag Arya (IFS), Range Officer Uri by actively participating in the trek showcased a commitment to outdoor adventures and community engagement. Arshiya Aojha and Raies Vakil also joined the trek.
Mohammad Saad Lone, head of Pir Panjal Adventure Club told Rising Kashmir that the collaborative effort, supported by Anurag Arya (IFS), highlighted a positive initiative, fostering unity and promoting adventure among community members.
“The trek aimed to boost tourism activities in the Uri border sub-division, showcasing the natural beauty and picturesque landscapes of the region,” Lone said.
The trekkers expressed gratitude to Anurag Arya (IFS), Arshiya Aojha, and Raies Vakil for organizing this “exhilarating” trek which has further enhanced Uri’s reputation as a prime destination for winter tourism.
The participants were later felicitated with certificates of excellence and Paryavaran Mitra certificates, recognizing their remarkable contribution to promoting eco-tourism in the region.
The trek route of Salamabad to Sumgali, a breathtaking destination for adventure lovers, was earlier not open for any trekking or tourism purposes. However, under the government’s initiative to boost border tourism in far-flung areas of Kashmir, the border areas of Uri sub-division became a hotspot for trekkers and tourists across the country.
