To honour the sacrifices of the security personnel, the Government High School in Khwaja Bagh has been officially renamed after Martyr Inspector Mehar Singh, a brave officer who made the ultimate sacrifice for the security of India in 1991.

The renaming ceremony was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, and was attended by the family members of the martyr, along with Chief Education Officer, Shabir Ahmad Khan, school staff and students, who gathered to honor the legacy of Inspector Mehar Singh.

This ceremony marks a significant moment in the community’s history, serving as a reminder of the valiant contributions of those who have laid down their lives in service to the nation.

The DC praised martyr Inspector Mehar Singh’s courage and emphasized the significance of commemorating such sacrifices in the public sphere.

Minga sherpa further underscored that this renaming is a tribute not just to the martyrdom of Inspector Mehar Singh but to all who have laid down their lives for the honour of our country, serving as a constant reminder to every student and citizen of the immense bravery and dedication required to protect our nation.

The renaming of the school is part of a broader initiative to honor local heroes, create a sense of pride and patriotism among the youth and to foster a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by security personnel among the students and the community at large.
