GDC Sogam organises prog on the opening of NCC Unit

Srinagar, Oct 07: Under the patronage of the Worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Shamim Ahmad Dar, Debates and Seminars Committee, in collaboration with NSS Unit, organized a programme on the Opening of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit in the College on 7th October, 2024.
Colonel Amit Bharadwaj, Commanding Officer, 7 JK Battalion NCC, Kupwara and Colonel Sheldon Misquith, Second-in- Command, 7 JK NCC, Kupwara were respectively Chief Guest and Guest of Honour on the
occasion.
The programme was moderated by Dr. Tabzeer Yaseen, HoD Political Science who also delivered Introductory Remarks to introduce the guests to the audience. The Worthy Principal, during his Welcome Address gave a cordial welcome to the worthy guests as well as the audience. The Worthy Principal declared the Opening of the NCC Unit as a dream coming true for the College.
Colonel Amit Bharadwaj, while delivering his address talked about the Benefits of NCC. He explained both the tangible as well as the intangible benefits of NCC through a Power Point Presentation. In the former category, he put the benefits which a cadet/participant/student gets with respect to pursuing her/his education as well as career building. In the latter category, the worthy guest counted the benefits which are available in the form of the development of leadership qualities, personality development, physical fitness, adventure, social responsibility, exposure to armed forces, etc. Overall, NCC, the worthy guest said, plays a pivotal role in nation building and national integration.
After felicitating the respected guests with mementos, the programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Showkat Subhan Mir, HoD Environmental Science, during the course of which a heartfelt gratitude was paid to the worthy guests, the organizers as well as the students who participated in the programme.
